India has emerged as a land of opportunities. In 2025, several innovative

government schemes were announced in the Union Budget and through ongoing

nationwide missions. These initiatives focus on areas like agriculture, education,

women's empowerment, MSME growth, housing, healthcare, digital inclusion, and

social welfare. Knowing these schemes is crucial for every citizen, entrepreneur, and

Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana

           Launched to uplift farmers in 100 low-productivity agricultural districts, aimed

at increasing agricultural productivity and diversification, with an outlay of Rs 24,000

crore annually for 6 years. This scheme provides convergence of farm support,

technology infusion, and access to credit and markets for nearly 1.7 crore

farmers. The scheme integrates 36 schemes of 11 ministries, with a focus on

improving irrigation, storage, and credit availability. Plans will be prepared at the

district level, and progress will be monitored through 117 key performance indicators

(KPIs). With special measures for those with moderate crop intensity, it’s by far India's 

Most ambitious agricultural transformation drive for 2025.

Rural Prosperity and Resilience Programme

            This is a comprehensive, multi-sectoral programme launched in India to

create opportunities in rural areas, to bolster rural economies through investment in

technology, skilling, and local entrepreneurship, reduce migration by making it

optional, and improve overall rural living standards. The increased focus on rural

employment and infrastructure create sustainable opportunities and improve the

quality of life.

Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 Programme

           It is India’s Integrated Nutrition Support Programme, merging the Anganwadi

Services, Poshan Abhiyan, and a scheme for Adolescent Girls to combat 

malnutrition in children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The program aims 

to create a supportive ecosystem, upgrade Anganwadi centres into “Saksham  

Anganwadi” and deliver nutrition, early childhood education, and health-related  

Services. It aims to support 8 crore children and 1 crore mothers, focusing Northeast

and aspirational districts. Targeted intervention here is expected to significantly

reduce malnutrition and anaemia.

New Entrepreneurial Scheme for Women and SC/ST Entrepreneurs

              In a landmark initiative announced in the Union budget 2025, a fund has

been launched offering term loans up to ₹2 crore for first-time women and

scheduled caste/tribe entrepreneurs over five years. The aim is to support the first-

time, entrepreneurial ventures of approximately five lakh women and SC/ST

individuals. This boosts both economic empowerment and skill-building. Online

MSME Classification Revamp and Credit Guarantee

The Indian government has significantly revamped MSME (Micro, Small, and

Medium Enterprises) classification and enhanced the Credit Guarantee scheme,

with major changes announced in the Union Budget 2025-26. Investment and

turnover limits for micro and small enterprises have been increased by 2.5 times and

2 times respectively.  Investors will now benefit from expanded investment and

turnover thresholds. Customised credit cards (with a limit of ₹5 lakh) for micro-

enterprises and an enhanced credit guarantee fund for startups/innovators fuel

business growth and employment. The Udyam portal accelerates digital registration

and financial inclusion.

Bhartiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme

             Indian Language Book scheme is an initiative of the Government of India to

promote education by providing digital books in Indian languages for school and

higher education students, making learning more accessible to millions of students

while promoting linguistic diversity. It’s part of a larger education reform targeting

improved outcomes through technology and access.

             Announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, the scheme is being implemented

by the Indian Languages Committee under the Ministry of Education and University

Grants Commission (UGC). The scheme aims to develop basic textbooks in various

Indian languages to help students understand the subjects better.

Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL)

            It is an innovation workshop in Indian schools, part of the Atal Innovation

Mission (AIM) initiative by NITI Aayog, designed to provide hands-on learning with

tools like 3D printers and robotics kits to the students from class 6 to 12. To Inspire

young minds, the government aims to establish 50,000 labs in schools over five years

to foster curiosity, scientific temper, and innovation skills critical for job-readiness and

future startups.

One Nation One Subscription (ONOS)

             It is a government initiative aimed at providing nationwide access to

international scholarly research articles and journals for students, faculty, and

researchers, in government funded higher education and research institutions.

Providing affordable access to global digital libraries, this scheme enables students,

 researchers, and institutions to tap into world-class resources without barriers. It’s a

major push toward knowledge democratisation.

SWAMIH Fund 2 and Modified Housing Initiatives

The SWAMIH (Special window for affordable and Mid-Income Housing)

Investment Fund was initiated by the Government of India in November 2019 to

resolve the problem of stalled housing projects that were financially viable but were

starved of last-minute funding.

            Addressing the needs of middle-class families, SWAMIH Fund 2 sets aside

₹15,000 crore to complete 1 lakh housing units, with an additional 50,000 homes

targeted for completion by the end of 2025. These initiatives ease EMI burdens and

support renters, making home ownership more attainable.

PM Awaas Yojana (PMAY)

             It is a flagship mission of Government of India launched on 25^th June 2015.

The mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG

categories including the slum dwellersby ensuring a pucca house to all eligible

urban households.  Ongoing, now with streamlined benefits and reinforced financial

outlay, this flagship continues providing affordable homes with included amenities,

driving economic growth and stability.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana (AB PM-Jay)

           In a significant move, the union cabinet approved a major expansion of the

AB PM-JAY on September 11,2024. Under this decision, all senior citizens age 70 and

above will receive health coverage, regardless of their income. This expansion is set

to benefit around 4.5 crore families, including 6 crore senior citizens, by providing

them with free health insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family.

            With this approval, every senior citizen in this age group will have access to

scheme’s benefits, regardless of their socio-economic status.

PM eBus Seva and Smart Cities Mission

             The PM eBus Sewa scheme is an initiative to deploy 10,000 electric buses

across 100 Indian cities, aiming to improve public transport by being more

accessible, sustainable, and cost effective, and to promote green mobility. The

scheme was launched on Aug 16, 2023, and involves a Public-Private Partnership

model. Total estimated cost of scheme is Rs 57,613 crore, of which central

government contribution will be Rs 20,000 crore and remainder to be borne by  

states. Eligible cities include those with populations between 3 and 40 lakhs, and 

capital of states and UTs with fewer than 3 lakh residents, based on 2011 census.

Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM)

This scheme was launched on 15 August 2019 by the government of India

under ministry of Jal Shakti. Its goal is to provide Functional Household tap

connection (FHTC) to every rural household in India. The programme will also

implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge

and reuse through grey water management, water conservation, rain water

harvesting. The Jal Jeevan mission will be based on a community approach to water

and will include extensive information, Education and communication as a key

component of the mission.

PM-KUSUM Scheme

           The PM-KUSUM Scheme is a central government initiative launches in 2019 to

promote solar energy in the agriculture sector by providing financial assistance for

solar irrigation pumps and grid-connected power plants, aiming to secure farmer’s

energy and water supply, reduce pollution, and provide a stable income for

landholders. Supporting farmers in adopting renewable energy, particularly solar

pumps, this scheme strengthens self-reliance and helps meet climate targets. Its

expanded budget means more rural installations and lower bills.

               The scheme is divided into three components: setting up decentralized solar

power plants, installing standalone solar pumps, and solarizing existing grid-

connected pumps.

NAVYA Initiative

        The Government of India launched NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through

Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) in June 2025 to provide vocational  

training to adolescent girls aged 16-18 years with at least a class 10 qualification,

especially in non-traditional job roles.

           It is a joint initiative by the Ministry of women and child Development

(MWCD)and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). It covers

27 districts across 19 states including Aspirational Districts and those in North-Eastern

region.

           It aligns with the Vikshit Bharat@2047 vision and promotes women-led

development and reinforces the Government’s commitment to building a skilled,

self-reliant, and inclusive workforce, positioning young girls as agents of socio-

economic change.
